  1. Jimmytown, glad to hear things are still in NSR for you. Unfortunately my husband started aflutter and excelerated HR during the weekend. The last cardioversion lasted 5 and a half weeks.  Going in for a cardioversion tomorrow. Looks like we will be making another trip to Austin in October or November for a touch up and to have the watchman inserted. Sigh.....

I'm sorry to hear that.   Flutter is absolutely the worst, far worse than AFib, for me at least.

I have always kind of just accepted that I would be going back for a second procedure.  I'm sure Dr. Natale told you the same as he told me regarding the touch up being much easier and shorter.  Jury is still out.

I just hit week 11 today and am still in NSR, but I'm having lots of PAC's over the last few days.  Maybe we'll cross paths in November.  I'm thinking watchman too, but I'm only 54 and don't have any other heart issues so I'm concerned that my insurance won't cover it.

We are looking at early October now, resigned to the obvious but optimistic that the big light is getting near. Yes my husband has gone through hell with this.  That is the only thing that I feel the professionals at the Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute could have improved. Getting us more prepared for the worst after ablation situations. Had no clue it could get this bad and he could feel this bad. Although they are great when things happen with what to do, I think knowing ahead of time it may be this tough(and they know from others experience that it can be) would have helped us have less anxiety and to be better prepared for the worse.  We are on Medicare so the insurance covers better than the traditional self pay we had in our 50's. I shudder to think what our medical debt would have been if this occurred back then. So yes at 54 it may be an issue with the watchman. As I understand you have to meet certain qualifications for the insurance to pay as well. At the TCAI they seem to think we won't have a problem because 12 years ago my husband had a brain hematoma. Fingers crossed. We were told not to solidify any flight arrangements until we have a teleconference with Dr. Natale, agree to the procedure and then the insurance company agrees to pay. Waiting to be scheduled for the teleconference hopefully today. Good luck with you. 17 weeks post ablation tomorrow for us.

I think Dr. Natale's staff assumes you already know the hell flutter can be.  If you read Carey's story, you'll agree that both your husband's and mine could also be a lot worse.  There is a link to it at the beginning of my post on the forum.

This time around, Flutter didn't end up with a high heart rate, and for that I'm very thankful.  My previous experiences were when I had an episode, HR jumped to 177bpm... strangely, always 177...  I typically would convert within a few hours after a huge dose of flecainide, but there were many times it went on for a few days.  I hope the cardioversion holds for a long time, time enough to get through the touch up.  Let me know how it all goes, I'm 6 weeks behind you.
