About Me
This is my journal that I've kept since my diagnosis in March 2008 at DailyStrength.org:

In March 2008, I was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation caused by an allergic reaction to Avelox, an antibiotic. Tests showed my heart to be healthy otherwise and CHADS score=0. From the beginning the Afib was persistent, not paroxysmal. After one cardioversion, my EP decided the least risk to me would be to stay on rate control and aspirin permanently. Therefore, I am classified Permanent Lone Afib. After the first two months of intense discomfort - mostly dizziness and chest pain - I had only fatigue. This was resolved by changing to a new beta blocker called nebivolol (Bystolic). Nevertheless, I am not in the same health I was before Afib and continue to watch for improvements in treatment of my type. I study lifestyle changes intently - diet and exercise, alternative treatments such as acupuncture. I also believe there should be more support for us on an in-person basis, sponsored by local hospitals and heart health organizations. It is shocking how little help there is of this kind.
