Sonya
I recently had A Fib for the first time 5 weeks ago and was admitted to hospital. I converted to sinus rhythm without needing cardioversion after about 12hrs. I have been tracking episodes of A Fib some lasting a few seconds and others a couple of hours. Whatever the time span they occur as I'm settling down to sleep and just after I have awakened. My cardiologist had no answer for this and suggested it might be positional. Has anyone else noticed this or is it a known factor? I can think if physiological reasons why this might happen but wasn't sure if it was unique to me. KACLM
I experienced the same thing early on with my A-Fib. I read an article, and it said it was not unusual to have A-Fib episodes at night. The article suggested that the best position for an A-Fib patient was sleeping on your left side. To be honest this just increased my anxiety, and I worried about bedtime and going to sleep. Would I wake up with another A-Fib episode? I have friends that wear their Apple watches to bed so that it will wake them up if they go into A-Fib. I don't wear my watch to bed, I always woke up on my own. I use my Apple watch once a day to check my Oxygen level and run an ECG. I was running way too many ECGs because I saw PACS in the strips. Found out this is normal to see PACs still after ablation. I am now 6 weeks one day post ablation. At 4 weeks post ablation and 2 days I came down with Covid. I was very sick took Paxlovid and Mucinex with DM. Feeling great today! I experienced an A -Fib episode of about 90 secs. when I was running a temp of 100.3. My Apple watch showed a HR of 91 with A-Fib. I am so glad I got an ablation and had a very experienced EP physician that did the procedure. I had A -Fib a little over a year when I had the ablation. Would have done it sooner but had to wait for a EP appt, and then another 3 months. Was very lucky to get in that soon, the EP put me on a waiting list. 3 months later they called me, and July 5th had the ablation. Encourage you to follow the articles on this A Fib site. I have learned so much.

KACLM
You are welcome! There are so many people on this site that have had so many life experiences, which have helped me so much. I just couldn't tolerate the meds they put me on for rate control, dropped my blood pressure way too low. Ablation has been my answer. Wish you the very best. You are not alone on your journey.
